Mega Man 11 is too short, but some of the challenges are so fun that it almost makes it up for it. The game is a bit heavy on enemy explosion effects, making it hard to see what you’re doing sometimes. The game was also clearly made for speedrunners in mind, which is a rarity these days. The gear system is a welcome addition and it makes the fantastic design elements come alive. Robot Masters are original and they just might be the best lineup we’ve got so far. Graphics are well presented, the mechanics are mostly well done and the level design as a whole is top notch. Mega Man 11 is a traditional take on the franchise, and doesn’t even let the veterans down, except for being way too short of an experience. The more you scum the challenges with Rush, the more you take advantage of the overly generous bolt system and the more you keep expecting, the worse it gets. There is no such thing with these Doc Robots. Mega Man 3 was made ‘Nintendo Hard’ on purpose, but what the developers forgot was what made Mega Man great in the first place: Learning AI patterns and becoming better as you play. Still, I can’t but recommend this title as it is still a respectable piece of work. The menu system is awful and combine all of the previously mentioned problems with the designs of the Doc Robots, it really does get infuriating at times. The game does suffer from enormous lag and controller inputs that are not optimized. The game is great fun for the first 12 stages at least. Decent Robot Masters accompanied with their colorful and fun stages really makes you come back to it several times. The game is beautiful and it tries new things with its weaponry, although they are admittedly lacking. Mega Man 3 isn’t without its problems, but none of its issues are so bad that it would make the whole experience stale. The game splits opinions, but from the evaluation stand-point there is not much to criticize outside of the strange SNES quirks. Despite these points, the game can still stand on its legs quite strongly. It’s also questionable why the game gives us four starter Robot Masters instead of the original eight. Some weapons needed refinements and they could have been utilized more. These factors were always so perfect on Mega Man games, but they are not polished enough in Mega Man 7. This would be the perfect package if it wasn’t for some shortcomings.īiggest flaws are the difficulty of tippy-toeing, edges of platforms being hard to distinguish and ladder grabs that make you want to tear your hair out. Enemies are there to certainly kill Mega Man: They are not just pacing back and forth for no reason. Pacing and enemy placements are mostly exceptional. One of the best Mega Man experiences you can have.
